A. LISTER EDITION

Adrian Van Anz's Los Angeles

Why? He makes motorbikes that turn heads.

Whether you’re traveling on four wheels or two, you want to make a good impression. And nothing says cool like rolling up on a custom Derringer Cycle. “I came at the design process with the goal of creating something that would connect with people on an emotional level first, something that would stop people in their tracks when they saw it,” says owner and designer Adrian Van Anz, who describes his clientele as “everything from A. List celebs, to pot dispensary delivery men.”

ADRIAN VAN ANZ'S HANGOUT

Old Place

Why? "It has an amazing history."

In Adrian’s words: “My favorite motorcycle hangout is Old Place on Mulholland Highway in Cornell. I also go to the Rock Store because everyone does, but Old Place is far more special, and luckily most of the yahoos ride right past it on the way to the Rock Store. The food is awesome. For me it’s a toss-up between the blue cornmeal flapjacks and the cinnamon buns. Best breakfast in town, and a great dinner menu as well, but call for a reservation or you might end up in the middle of nowhere and hungry!"

ADRIAN VAN ANZ'S THREADS

RRL

Why? Vintage-inspired duds.

In Adrian’s words: “I would probably describe my personal style as upscale biker. I love leather jackets, boots, vintage car and motorcycle tees etc. And since we make most of those items now, I've been able to put my own spin on each piece! As far as other stores, I really like Glory on Hollywood Boulevard. They’ve got a great collection in there, everything from Fred Perry shirts to vintage leather race suits, and Confederacy is next door which is great as well. RRL is another favorite of mine, and Maxfield."

WHERE ADRIAN VAN ANZ WOULD GET HIS BIKE FIXED

Orange 20 Bikes

Why? Bike know-it-alls.

In Adrian’s words: “I have to admit that I don’t have much advice on where to head for bike service. A magazine recently did a profile on me, and they asked for early photos, and my dad sent a photo of me at five years old holding a 15mm box end wrench leaning over a half-assembled bike. I’ve always been the DIY type, but Orange 20 Bikes at Melrose and Heliotrope -- I have heard good things.”

LAST WEEK'S TOP PICK

24/7 Restaurant

Why? A Sunset Strip eatery that never closes.
In Anthony’s words: "I love the diner at the Standard in Hollywood after 2 a.m. When I wrap up my Tuesday nights there I always stop by the counter and order a cup of soup. I love trying to convince my friends to stay till 2 so we can all hang out. The staff there is pretty friendly. But when I go hard on the chicken strips, I make my way to Canters!"
